The enigmatic Alan Gummerson was born in 1928 in Bradford and studied at Bradford and Leeds. A Senior Lecturer at Leeds College of Art before taking early retirement in 1984 to concentrate on producing drawings, paintings, prints and sculpture. Currently producing cast sculptures and drawn figures. Previous work also includes assemblages, prints and paintings. Part time lecturer and exhibition organiser working from home. Has held numerous one man shows in St. Ives, London, Paris, Rievaulx Abbey, Berlin, Cambridge, Harrogate and Leeds, and group shows in England, Europe and the USA. His work is held in public and private collections in Britain, USA, France and Switzerland.
