About Anthony Taylor

Enquire / Make an Offer

Anthony Taylor studied at the Liverpool College of Art between 1970 and 1973 where he was awarded the David Murray Landscape Prize. Taylor went on to become an art teacher and head of the Faculty of Expressive and Performing Art, and exhibited widely across the North-West of England with shows at the Bury Art Gallery, Liverpool Academy, Manchester Academy, and the Haworth Gallery amongst many others.

Acknowledging the influence of Victor Pasmore, Soutine and Picasso as early influences, Anthony Taylor is quick to also point to the enduring Liverpool infused influence of his early tutors: Mike Knowles, Robin Bownass, John Virtue, Peter Prendergast and the ubiquitously revered Peter Crabtree, all of whom he thanks for encouraging his dedication to figurative abstraction and expressionist landscapes throughout his career.
