Forgotten I had this. Bless. A 1963 painting of HM the Queen by Dora Holzhandler. Holzhandler, born of Polish-Jewish parents, died in October of last year, aged 87, having moved to England from her native France in 1934. Her naive style was most clearly influenced by Chagall although her fauvist penchant for bold colouring was a result of her open admiration for the work of Henri Matisse. I think I’ll hang it in the house in honour of her passing and the Queen’s impending 90th birthday. Bless them both.
