Herewith a newly revealed photograph of the caravan at Slake’s Farm, that Arthur Neal shared for one romantic summer in 1972, with the great grand daughter of Augustus John. The earliest Neal I have, and by far the most representational painting before his ascent into abstraction. An interesting treatment of the trees in his painting of the same year: a touch of Edward Hopper stillness to it.
